Crime:  Arson

Location:  1800 County Road 286N, a rural location close to Zephyr

Structure Destroyed:  Bethel Baptist Church

Details:  In the early morning hours of 15 July 2011, beginning about 2:00AM, numerous fires were reported across north, east, and southeast portions of Brown County.  Most of the fires originated in the bar ditches along different roadways.

The last fire reported was at the Bethel Baptist Church.  By the time the Zephyr Volunteer Fire Department arrived at the scene both of the church structures were fully engulfed by flames and the roofs had collapsed.

 

Anyone wih information regarding the Bethel Church fire or any of the other fires is urged to contact the Brown County Sheriff's Department.  If you have information but want to remain anonymous you can contact the Heart of Texas Crime Stoppers Tip Line at 1-800-222-TIPS.  If an arrest is made as a result of information you provide through the Tip Line you could be eligible for a reward of up to $1000. 

 

 

Crime:  Burglary of a Business

Location:  1017 Austin Avenue, Brownwood

Business Name:  The Bike Peddler

Date/Time:  The crime occurred sometime between the time business closed on 6-28-2011 and 6:35AM on 6-29-2011.

Entry:  Forced entry through the front door of the business.  The front door faces Austin Avenue.

Stolen Property:  Several bicycles were stolen, including (1) Red 20" Free Agent Trail Devil; (1) Gray/Blue 20" Free Agent Trail Duster; (1) Lime Green 20" Free Agent Maverick; and (1) Black 20" Free Agent Telum.

The estimated loss including damage to the damage and items stolen is in excess of $3000.

Crime:  Theft

Location:  Bruner Auto Group 300 E. Commerce, Brownwood, Texas

Date/Time:  Crime occurred sometime prior to 9:00AM on 3 July 2011

Items Stolen:  4 20" Chrome Wheel; 4 20" Black Polished Aluminum Wheels; 8 Goodyear Eagle LS-2, P275/55R20 Tires

Details:  Two new vehicles on the Bruner Car Lot were jacked up, placed on blocks and had all four tires and wheels removed.

Value of stolen property:  $12,000

Crime:  Arson

Date:  8 January 2011

Time:  The fire was reported at approximately 8:45AM

Location: 1801 Houston Avenue, Brownwood, Texas

Structure involved:  Mobile home (vacant)

Details:  The structure was heavily damaged as a result of a fire that was started in the living room of the mobile home.  This is the third structure in this area to burn.  Anyone with information on this, or any of the other fires in this area, are asked to contact the Brownwood Fire Marshall.  If you wish to remain anonymous and be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1000 you can contact the Heart of Texas Crime Stoppers Tip Line at 1-800-222-TIPS.
